How to cook delicious dumplings and what filling to choose – find out at UNIAN.

Today one of the most “delicious” holidays of the year is celebrated – Dumpling Day on February 18. It is not known who exactly established this date, but one thing is clear – dumplings remain a favorite dish of many Ukrainians. UNIAN will tell you which dumplings with which meat are the most delicious and what other recipes for such a dish are.

Classic dumpling recipe

  • Green beef – 300 g
  • Minced pork – 300 g
  • Onion – 2 pcs.
  • Salt – to taste
  • Ground black pepper – to taste
  • Water – 250 ml
  • Eggs – 1 pc.
  • wheat flour – 500 g
  • Vegetable oil – 15 ml

Put the minced meat in a deep bowl, add finely chopped onion. Salt, pepper and mix well. Cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes until the meat becomes juicy.

Make the dough: pour warm water, egg, salt into a deep bowl and mix. Pour 350-400 gr of flour, knead the dough. Focus on consistency – the mass should be elastic. Gather the dough into a ball, wrap in a towel and put in the fridge for 20 minutes.

Sprinkle the table with flour, lay the tea, divide into parts, roll each into a “sausage” and cut into parts. Roll them into cakes, put a portion of minced meat on each, blind the edges of the dough, and then wrap them in the form of classic dumplings. Cook until tender and serve.

If you stick too muchtake a flat plate, sprinkle with flour, put the remaining dumplings on it and put it in the freezer.

Seafood dumplings

  • Squid – 500 g
  • Shrimps – 300 g
  • Onion – 150 g
  • Garlic oil – 70 g
  • Salt – 10 g
  • Pepper – 10 g
  • Pea – 690 g
  • Water – 250 ml
  • Egg – 60 g
  • Salt – 12 g

Pour the flour into a deep bowl, make a well inside, beat in the egg and pour in the water. Mix thoroughly, then knead the elastic dough, roll it into a ball, cover with cling film and put in the fridge for 2-3 hours.

Cook squid and shrimps, pass through a meat mincer together with onions, which you previously fried in a pan. Salt, pepper, mix. Roll out the dough, cut out the circles for dumplings, lay out the filling and close the edges of the dough. Cool for 10 minutes, serve with sugar.

Dumplings with cheese in a pan

  • Ready dumplings – 400 g
  • Hard cheese – 80 g
  • Water – 200 ml
  • Vegetable oil – 20 ml
  • Salt, pepper – to taste
  • Spices – to taste

Heat the pan with the addition of vegetable oil, put the frozen dumplings. Fry for 2-3 minutes until golden brown appears. Pour in hot water, salt and add spices. Cover with a lid and cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. When the dumplings increase in size, sprinkle them with grated cheese and cook for a few more minutes under the lid. Serve at the table, sprinkled with herbs.
