Friends Recipes: Cooking 5 Meals from the Official Cookbook

Every week our author Dasha Poleshchikova tests new dishes and shares the results. This week she made recipes from the official cookbook “Friends” from KhlebSol publishing house. We will finally taste Joe’s legendary meatball sandwich, try Phoebe’s chocolate chip cookies, and make a dozen of Monica’s lasagnas.

When I got my hands on the Friends recipe book, I didn’t know what to do! I was impatient to start cooking, but choosing a recipe was not so easy. And this is not surprising – the book contains more than a hundred dishes. Each comes with not only a detailed step-by-step recipe, but also a short link to the series in which the characters ate the dish.

All recipes are quite simple, do not need difficult ingredients or special skills. You just have to follow the instructions – and everything will work. The book is very nicely designed, but the pictures of the food are missing something. Not all recipes come with a photo. You won’t know what Joe’s favorite pizza or Phoebe’s food looks like until you cook it.

  1. With a cookie or glass, cut a hole in the middle of each piece of bread. Brush the slices with butter on both sides.

  2. Put the bread on a hot pan. Put some butter in the holes in the bread. Pour in the egg. Salt and fry over medium heat on both sides until the desired doneness of the egg.

  3. Prepare the pesto sauce. To make this, grind the basil, nuts, cheese and olive oil in a blender. Salt as needed.

  4. Serve eggs in bread with pesto.

Comments

No wonder Joe was proud of this recipe – it is not so easy to bring eggs to the desired degree of doneness. I like it when the protein is frozen, and the yolk remains liquid in the middle. Dipping toasted bread in it is delicious! Pesto adds spice to the dish.

Comments

Lasagna recipe from the series “Friends” turned out to be both soft and spicy. I liked the idea of making a layer of ricotta in the center. It added creaminess to the dish. And due to the fact that sausages are placed in lasagna instead of regular minced meat, the dish is prepared much faster.

Comments

I would order this dish in a restaurant! It turned out very impressive and elegant, although it is quite simple to prepare. In this recipe from Friends, I liked the chicken frying technique. The fillet came out soft, tender and very juicy. I changed the sauce a bit. The recipe in the book called for green olives instead of grapes, but I don’t like them.
