Chak-chak is the national dish of Tatar and Bashkir cuisine. According to custom, guests are greeted at the door with this oriental sweetness. Chak-chak is a flour biscuit formed from deep-fried pieces of dough mixed with honey syrup. The recipe of the dish contains simple ingredients, so it can be easily prepared at home.

Oriental sweet ingredients:

  • flour – 300 g;
  • egg – 3 pcs.;
  • vodka – 1.5 tbsp. l.;
  • syrup or honey – 3 tbsp. l.;
  • granulated sugar – 4 tbsp. l.;
  • salt – 0.3 tsp;
  • vegetable oil – 200 g.

How to cook chak-chak at home:

  1. Mix flour, eggs, salt and vodka. Knead the dough, cover with a bowl or foil and leave for 30 minutes until puffy.
  2. Divide the finished dough into three parts. Roll out each fragment so that the thickness is no more than two millimeters. Then cut into strips two centimeters wide.
  3. Cut across each strip of dough with noodles (three millimeters wide). Immediately after cutting, separate the pieces from each other.
  4. Place the noodles on a tray with a towel to prevent sticking.
  5. Heat the vegetable oil in a cauldron and fry the noodles in small portions. It is necessary to periodically stir it while frying. The finished noodles should be creamy in color.
  6. After frying, put the noodles on a sieve or in a colander to drain excess oil. After that, transfer to a bowl.
  7. In another pan, melt honey and sugar over low heat, stirring constantly.
  8. When the sugar is completely dissolved, remove the pan and pour the honey mixture into the noodles. Mix carefully.
  9. With wet hands, put the chak-chak on a plate and press lightly to close the voids.
  10. Serve chak-chak with tea, coffee, kefir or milk.
