Potato casseroles are a very popular dish, and they are prepared almost everywhere.
Even fans of pasta and pizza – Italians – do not deny themselves the pleasure of tasting a potato casserole, and local housewives cook it without any special fuss and frills, but it turns out very tasty and satisfying.
Italian potato casserole is good because available products are used for its preparation. Not only that, this recipe can come in handy when you need to dispose of leftover mashed potatoes and trimmings after the holidays.
- 1 kg of potatoes
- 300 g of sausage
- 300 g hard cheese
- 3 eggs
Boil the peeled potatoes in salted water until soft, drain, mash in puree, add a piece of butter and mix well.
Cut sausage, cheese and hard-boiled eggs into cubes, add to mashed potatoes and stir so that they are evenly distributed.
Put the prepared mass in a form greased with oil and sprinkled with bread, level it, spread small pieces of butter on the surface and crush everything with bread.
Bake for 30 minutes at 200 ° C until golden brown.

To make the casserole more flavorful, add Italian or Provence herbs to potatoes.
It is better to use cheese with a pronounced taste, and sausage – dry or dirty. Salami or hunting sausages work well.
